UP Voter List 2026: Sharp Drop in Muslim-Dominated Seats Raises Questions (X)
Lucknow: The release of the new voter list of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has revealed a different trend in many areas. Especially in the assembly constituencies with a Muslim population, the number of voters has declined more than expected. If compared with the list of October 2025, the shortage of many seats is quite significant, due to which questions are being raised.
A big decline has been seen in urban areas like Lucknow Central, Meerut Cantt, Bareilly Cantt. At some places, this reduction reached 25–28 percent, which is much higher than the normal figure.
This trend is clearly visible in Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and surrounding districts. The same situation was also seen in Moradabad, Rampur and Bareilly belt, where Muslim voters are already in good numbers.
The state average is about 13%, but it's much higher in these seats. In many places it has reached above 20 percent and in some seats it has reached around 25 percent.
Not only in big cities, but also in areas like Swar, Kundarki, Amroha, Khalilabad and Tanda, thousands of votes have been reduced. That means this change is not limited to just one or two cities.
The voting pattern in these areas is considered predetermined. In such a situation, when the number of voters seems to be low, it is certain that it will have an impact on the results of elections.
Questions have started being raised at the political and social level regarding this decline. Some people are calling it a part of the process, while some are considering it a serious issue and demanding an investigation.
At present this issue is under discussion and more clarity is expected in the coming days. The complete picture will be clear only after clarification comes from the Election Commission and the administration.
